Teaser Tuesday -Draxton’s Destiny

I want to thank everyone who’s purchased, read, or boosted Draxton’s Destiny. This book took far too long to write, but I’m kind of glad I waited. This isn’t a book I could’ve written when Petri was released but it’s the book that it needed to be. I’m overjoyed to see others enjoy the broken soldier and his Minshaari. It’s been a bright spot in an increasingly dark reality.

This snippet is from Chapter Five. Draxton has arrived on Seshinaar and the bands are proving difficult to remove. This makes Fieryl, the feline warrior jag’haar and Kasseus’s best friend, rather snarly.

Larimore looked around, a frown creasing his brow. “We’ve passed below the surface level, haven’t we?”

“Why do you say that?”

“Temp drop was a dead giveaway. The sound’s a bit different too, like there’s more mass to muffle it.” He shrugged. “Spent time on Frotel’s Belt, remember? Underground has a certain feel to it you don’t forget.”

“I suppose not.” Kasseus coded them through the next door after the platform settled. “Yes, we’re underground. Fieryl tends to blow things up when he’s feeling adventurous. This keeps the rest of Tanh’Shinaar safe.”

“I heard that!” Growled a voice from a room on their right. The jag’haar stepped through the doorway and glared at Kasseus, his arms crossed over his bare chest and tail thudding against the door frame. “Nothing has exploded in at least two moons, and that experiment was conducted under very secure conditions.”

“True, true,” Kasseus paused, pursed his lips, and added, “There’s only been six fires, two partial collapses of the eastern tunnel, a flooding that nearly shorted out the equipment in the southern quadrant, and should I even mention the cantiopod infestation?”

“I hate you.”

“I know. It keeps me up at night.”

“It should. I know where you sleep.”
